Chef Denise

Starting at an early age, I have always had a passion for baking. and consider  myself as a late bloomer into the culinary world and did not attend culinary school until my two children were in their late teens. I was watching a commercial for The Art Institute of Houston and enrolled in the Culinary Arts program. No one was more surprised than my  husband of 35 years, Jim. I Graduated in 2008 with honors.


In 2009 I opened The Lemon Wedge in downtown Bryan. Jose Montemayor was a mentor and a wonderful friend. He is dearly missed. The restaurant closed in 2014 due to unforeseen circumstances. I loved every minute at The Lemon Wedge. I have cooked and created for weddings, bridal showers, baby showers, rehearsal dinners, I have even served the former First Lady at the Bush Library.


I currently cater under Chef Denise, Catering and Culinary Delights. I also prepare  lunch and dinner for 43 young and aspiring girls at the Delta Zeta house on campus, keeping me on my toes and always creating new things to prepare for them.


Besides my husband, children and two precious grandchildren, I have an almost larger passion for my  22 year old thoroughbred horse, Logan.  I  have had him since he was 6. I credit the life of my children during their late teens to him. I also have two dogs, Scooter and Ranger that are never far from me when I am home, plus numerous dogs that are outside.


With family & friends, you can always guarantee that the conversation always turns to food and what can be prepared next…Now back to the kitchen where the creativity and fun begins. ​
